Meant to provide a buffer between developed land and the pristine waters of Saint Joseph Bay, the SJB State Buffer Preserve has much to offer of its own. It is home to an unique ecosystem that lies in the transition zone between wetlands and pine flatwoods. In this fire dependent system, one can find an abundance of rare plant life. Dr. Jean Huffman takes WFSU-TV producer Rob Diaz de Villegas into the wiregrass to look for rare and endangered plants, in particular, the Chapman's Rhododendron.
