The Aucilla Sinks area is a series of karst windows into the Aucilla River. For dozens of miles, the Aucilla is a wide flowing river, until suddenly, it gets swallowed up. It flows underground for a little while, revealing itself in these windows where limestone has eroded and caved in. It is magnificent to behold. The Florida National Scenic Trail winds along these sinks in the Aucilla Wildlife Management Area.
