The students at Leon County's Success Academy have one thing in common: conventional schools were not meeting their educational needs. The students we interviewed fell behind for a variety of reasons. Some were merely distracted by girls and smartphones. Others experienced disruptive family situations. One student felt with family tragedy. When they arrived at the Success Academy, graduation seemed a remote possibility; now, they are planning for college and careers.
