Stemming from celebrations of International Women's Day (March 8), Women's History Month is celebrated in March in the United States. It gives us a chance to reflect on the contributions of women to events in histroy and conetemporary society. We've compiled resources that may help you in your lesson planning for this important topic, beginning with the contributions of our own Florida women.

Florida Women

Images of Women’s History in Florida - Florida Memory has gathered a collection of dozens of women who have made a difference in the state of Florida. This collection includes photos and a brief history about each woman.

Roxcy Bolton: A Force for Equality - This collection from Florida Memory is focused on Roxcy Bolton, an equal rights activist from Florida. This collection includes a history of her life and works, letters, and photos.

Florida Commission on the Status of Women - The FCSW was established with the mission of empowering women in Florida. They maintain and facilitate the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame, created in 1982, shines a spotlight on Florida women who have made significant contributions to society. Take your class on a trip to the Hall of Fame display in the Florida Capitol or base a Women’s History Month lesson plan around one of these important women.
