Hi, my name is Alexis Kougias, and I’m excited to join WFSU as an intern this spring!
I am a fourth year undergraduate student at Florida State. I’m majoring in Media and Communication Studies and minoring in English. I plan to go into the broadcast journalism field and become a news reporter! My interests in the media and passion for writing have drawn me to a field that combines both. I am grateful to WFSU for allowing me an opportunity to combine my passions.
Aside from my academics, I love being involved on campus. I am a member of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority, where I serve as the Social Events Director. I also serve on the Standards Board, as well as the Slating Board for my chapter. Being involved in my sorority has taught me leadership and other valuable skills. Additionally, I am a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the Communications Honor Society at FSU. Here, I have gotten to know other students in my major and created connections that will last for years to come.
Outside of campus, I enjoy hanging out with friends, reading, and going to the movies. On the weekends, I love trying new restaurants around the area. There are so many hidden gems in Tallahassee!. And, if the weather cooperates, I enjoy taking a drive down to Alligator Point and spending the day under the sun at the beach.
PBS KIDS was such a big part of my childhood and is one of the biggest reasons why I chose this internship with WFSU. One of my favorite memories growing up was watching Channel 11 (our PBS channel) with my brother every Saturday morning. Not only were the shows that were aired fun, but they were also educational. I am grateful for the impact that PBS KIDS left on me, and am looking forward to helping other kids experience the same.
