Meet the Intern: Kim Cornell

September 19, 2025

Hello everyone! My name is Kim Cornell, and I am a rising senior at Florida State University. For four years, I have been majoring in media communication studies, along with completing my minor in hospitality entrepreneurship. I am honored to be interning at WFSU Public Media, and I am excited to learn more about the TV production world, as well as the digital aspect of helping out the education department.

I have always been deeply dedicated to the field of education and the positive impact it has on young people around the world. Over the years, I have supported many families through babysitting while also tutoring elementary-aged children. Most of all, I have been a volunteer for my local community choir called the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, to help children with their music aspirations and learning abilities towards music.

As for my personal interests, I am a big traveler and beach girl! I try to travel outside of the country every summer as I love exploring different cultures, lifestyles, and food. One summer in Italy, I got to broaden my perspective and strengthen my appreciation for learning about the children’s daily educational practices, and what their aspirations are, whether it be music, art, or their studies.

Being part of WFSU is not only an important step in my learning career, but I look forward to helping create and share engaging content that connects parents, teachers, and families to the many resources PBS KIDS has to offer. PBS KIDS is a channel that was a part of my childhood and it has impacted me in ways that all children should have the opportunity to experience. By watching educational fun characters like Ms. Frizzle in The Magic School Bus or Whyatt in SuperWhy, I would love nothing more than to help the future with the new youths of our generation.
