Celebrating Women Who Made History

Women’s History Month is set aside each calendar year to honor the contributions women have made to American society across the centuries. Every March in the United States, Women’s History Month reflects on past achievements while simultaneously encouraging and inspiring women today. Throughout the days ahead, WFSU Public Media and other informational spaces will provide examples of how women across fields, from medicine to education, to engineering, have overcome barriers to pursue careers, answers, and truths, changing our foundational knowledge and understanding. Celebrating women from today and the past, their remarkable stories deepen our understanding of American history and reaffirm the importance of including women in problem-solving across all disciplines. We hold up… and explore the skies together! In recognition of Women’s History Month, WFSU Education interns will share Instagram and Facebook stories featuring several influential women and their brilliant journeys that changed our world. Our interns will be exploring the lives and accomplishments of journalists like Nellie Bly and Dr. Charlayne Hunter-Gault, influential speakers like Maya Angelou and Malala, and honoring a few of the women from our own WFSU Public Media! These posts will highlight the impact these women have made within their fields and how their dedication has helped shape the legacy of women around the world.

WFSU encourages you to follow along on WFSU’s social media pages to discover their powerful stories and celebrate the achievements of women who have made lasting contributions to society. For additional resources, check out PBS Learning Media for students of all grade levels.
