Hello, my name is Ziying Zhao. I was honored to join WFSU as a student intern this fall.
I’m in my fourth year of undergraduate studies at Florida State University, double majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences and Communication Science and Disorders, and minoring in psychology. I plan to become a speech-language pathologist and work with families. My passion for language and human development motivates me to pursue a career that blends these interests. While I have a focused academic path, I’m eager to learn and explore new areas of involvement.
I enjoy being actively involved in campus life at FSU. I serve as the secretary of the Child Psychology Club and the Community Outreach Chair for the Student Academy of Audiology. Outside of these leadership roles, I also attend movie nights hosted by the Askew Student Life Center and enjoy musicals and plays produced by the FSU music program. These experiences provide me with fresh perspectives, and I’m grateful for the insights they’ve given me.
Beyond campus activities, I love exploring local spots, particularly farmers’ markets and art vendors. Learning about the stories behind small businesses and the creative inspirations that drive them is truly inspiring. On weekends, I often attend local festivals or events, which offer a vibrant atmosphere that contrasts with the quiet of residential areas.
I chose to intern with WFSU because I’ve always admired PBS Kids and was curious about how educators create characters that resonate with children. As a child, I loved visiting public libraries to explore and discover new worlds. As an intern at WFSU, I’m gaining insight into the production of educational content for children, and it’s rewarding to be part of content cherished across generations.
