Since 2017, Be My Neighbor Day has been a major event for the WFSU Public Media viewing area – with families travelling from places as far as Panama City and Jacksonville to spend the day with Daniel Tiger and friends! With the characters present for meet-and-greets, and tons of partners to provide neighborly crafts and activities, plus screenings of the PBS KIDS series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and other hit tv shows, this event is always a hit. Each year, the event has grown to take new legs – and wheels – thanks to a partnership with the City of Tallahassee and StarMetro which has enabled us to take over the Tallahassee trolleys for the day, transporting hundreds of families across our local Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

Our team has continued to innovate and adapt this event each year, from collaborating to create a real-time map of trolleys that families can track in a free mobile app, to forging ahead with Daniel Tiger Day despite COVID-19 limitations. This year, this event will be fully virtual, with a focus on highlighting neighborly acts of kindness that happen every day across the Tallahassee community.

Starting on Tuesday, February 9th, you can pick up free Neighbor Day bags full of craft materials and fun from any Leon County Public Library branch! These are available while supplies last, so follow us on Facebook and we’ll update our page when they run out at each location.

Be sure to follow WFSU Education on Facebook for updates leading up to the event and to catch the virtual series as it releases!

Check out our list of amazingly tigertastic partner friends and their neighborly shares for this year’s virtual event! You can find these premiering daily on Facebook, YouTube, and on WFSU-TV – or you can check back here to watch them as they release.

The following neighbors will also join us for our official Neighbor Day celebration on Saturday, February 13th!
