Our students from Leon, Wakulla, Gadsden, Jefferson, and so many more school districts in our viewing/listening area are now settling into a back-to-school routine. Parents are nearly finished with back to school shopping, and teachers continue to learn their student’s names and what makes each one special, we leave the first-day jitters behind us. Those stomach butterflies may have gone, but parents, kids, and teachers are still adjusting!
Maybe your little one is adapting to a new school or new teacher? Classroom personalities and seating charts are still being tweaked? Well… we have searched both our local and PBS KIDS resources to bring teachers and parents a one-stop-spot on all things Back to School! The best part, it’s all FREE and EASY!
We hope with this collection our WFSU parents and teachers find fun resources and creative tools that can be shared with children in an interesting way and also make your life easier as the school year moves forward!
Our Back-to-School collection features activities, videos, and printables that can be used at home or in the classroom. We also share local events for our Florida Panhandle families.
WFSU offers a variety of events and classes for kids, parents and teachers in the Big Bend area. WFSU is part of the Community Classroom Consortium, a partnership between informal educators, where we put on an aray of events through out the school year. Recently we had a Teacher Refresher at Proof Brewing Company, and showcased all the FREE resources our memebers provide for teachers at the ECO-STEM teacher workshop.
Apart from the CCC, our local community can visit WFSU’s Community Calendar to find many more options for parents to attend. To find WFSU events visit our Event’s page and sign up for our Parent or Teacher newsletters.
Teachers have PBS Learning Media at their fingertips, for free. From curated lesson plans that only match Florida standards but also hit about every subject and all grade levels Pre-K through High School. We’ve scooped up the best and provided easy access bellow.
Learning doesn’t have to stop at school. Learning social skills and ways to cope with emotions starts at home. PBS Parents has many
Kids and media are like two peas in a pod, and as parents and teachers, we do that best to make sure their screen time is also educational. PBS KIDS has a variety of apps that can be used for education but also for a fun time at home.
The Daniel Tiger’s Day and Night app ask kids to help Daniel get ready for school in the morning and for bed at night through imaginative play and songs.
With PBS KIDS Scratch Jr kids will learn to solve problems, design projects and express themselves creatively on a tablet. With PBS KIDS ScratchJr, children don’t just learn to code, they code to learn.
