Hi everyone, I am Dedon Stancil! This summer, I’m working with WFSU through a program called T.F.L.A., aka Tallahassee Future Leaders Academy. TFLA is a program that helps high school students get employed over the summer. Their premise is that they provide opportunities to learn more about careers and professions. Each year they have about 100 slots, and luckily this year, I am one of the people that will be filling them.
When I was looking for a job among their long list of options, I was excited to see a position at WFSU. I’ve listened to their numerous programs on the radio station and always found them exciting and interesting. I also thought it would be cool to see everything behind the scenes. How they make the radio shows, and how WFSU operates in general. So, when I saw the space I applied for, I was glad I did.
The people here are lovely to be around, and their work with young kids is vital; I’m glad I can participate this summer. I’m also very excited to get a behind-the-scenes look at how some radio shows and mechanics look from the other side. Overall, this summer will be a great chance to explore a possible career opportunity and make great memories.
