What inspires you from WFSU public media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Emily Millett, and I've been involved in learning. Mostly for me, I always had my purpose in life was to learn as much as humanly possible. I guess the thing that I'm probably feel like I really made a difference with the school volunteer program at the state level. I started volunteering in my children's classroom. As I got to know volunteers, we discovered there was a need for some money to pay a volunteer coordinator. There was a statewide group that was interested in. We started a group called School Volunteers at the state level, and we went and lobbied, and got enough money to partially fund the school volunteer program. Being involved led me to meet some incredible people, both nationally and internationally, who were interested in how people were. And then decided to run for school board. The first time I lost. Second time I actually won, had a wonderful time work with some incredible people at a time that you could do innovative things. There's still plenty to do. I keep being assured that I'm not going to serve on any kind of committees anymore. Guess what? I still do. We have an incredible group of people here in Tallahassee that will let you get involved in clothing, WSU. I came into this life to be a learner, and everything I've done has been wonderful learning. I would really like for people to know that life can be interesting, no matter where you are or what you're doing. I'm Emily Millett, and I'm very grateful to have been here. It's been so much fun. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
Emily Millet - Life can be interesting no matter where you are.

In this week’s Voices That Inspire, she reflects on how a curiosity about how people learn led her into education advocacy, statewide volunteer initiatives, and public service here in Tallahassee. Her story is a reminder that staying engaged — at any stage of life — can open doors to meaningful impact.
