What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Karen Moore, I'm the CEO and founder of Moore. Formerly more communications group, and we do integrated marketing communications. To be an entrepreneur, you need to be passionate. You need to be focused. You need to be strategic. But when people ask me, what should I do? I say you need to find a mentor. When I opened more 25 years ago, I did not know one other woman's CEO in our community. Now there were women that owned businesses mostly working out of their house. So I had no one that I could sit down with and say, let me bounce this off of you. Or if you were in my shoes, what's the one or two things I should be thinking about every single day? So part of my passion now is being mentors for other entrepreneurs. Every business owner is successful because of their focus and their commitment and their passion. But they're also successful because of the people they surround themselves with. So I think it's imperative that business owners and this community give back. And they can give back in any way, whether it's supporting mentoring of students or entrepreneur activities, but you didn't do it alone and you have a responsibility to the next generation to help them succeed too. And this town is so gracious in doing that. And I think we ought to recognize that as one of our greatest strengths when we are recruiting businesses to come here. We are her town that wants all businesses to succeed. My name is Karen Moore. I'm the CEO and founder of Moore. You're listening to voices that inspire.
Karen Moore - You Need to Find a Mentor

Founder and CEO of Moore, Karen Moore emphasizes that passion, focus, and strategy drive entrepreneurship. She believes success comes from these traits as well as the people entrepreneurs associate themselves with, and therefore stresses the importance of finding a mentor. The strong and lasting connections to be made in Tallahassee should be fostered by the business owner community.
