What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Kathleen Speehart. I'm the executive director of the Council on Culture and Arts. I'm also a partner, a daughter, an auntie, a friend, a musician, a producer and presenter. I've been in arts and culture since I've been a kid. So it started out with dance and music and kind of grew from there. Directed my first play when I was in sixth grade. I started playing piano when I was in fifth grade. Did my first radio show. Also when I was in elementary. So I was a pretty early arts and culture kid. I believe in the transformative power of arts and culture. And that's what I've chosen to center my life in. Is the journey of organizations, individuals, communities, in using arts and culture to connect with themselves more and connect together as a community. I have also centered my work a lot in how that plays out in a community. What are the ambitions for arts and culture in a community and how to make that realized? Arts and culture is very community driven. It's very collaborative. And so when you have ways that you can offer a community collaborative problem solving and beautification and investment in art, that is like a win-win for everyone. A great day is me continually engaging where I'm all over the community talking to various people about arts and culture and how they can find a place for themselves within arts and culture. That is a really good day. I'm Kathleen Speer, Executive Director of the Council on Culture and Arts, Art Worker, Art Lover, and Artifixionato of Tallahassee and Leon Coyote. You're listening to voices that inspire.
