What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Kerwin Jones Wilson. I am a Florida certified contractor and I live in a big being area. I work primarily in gas, then Leanne Wacola Jefferson counties. I'm just trying to create fabulous homes for everyone. When people call me, they say Mr. because they say my name is a guy's name Kerwin. So they call me say Mr. Kerwin. I say no, this is Kerwin. So they always throw the kind of shop at that at first. And then when they get to know me, they know that, you know, hey, she kind of knows what she's talking about in construction. So it's a great feeling to have the make knowledge that, yes, I am a female, but I can do this just as good. I love it. The fact that I get to be creative and can take an old house and make it something brand new. We have so many like four clothes and de-lepidate houses in gas and county. If we can get those houses and revitalize those communities and make them better, people tend to take a little bit more pride in it. And it makes them more proud to be in this community if I could fix that household for them. This year, I am the president for the National Association of Women in Construction. My goal for the whole community is to inspire more women to get into the profession and to learn about that construction is not just hands on a lot of time that we need architects. I need interior designers. I need ladies that are doing permitting for me. So we try to inspire ladies on the whole aspect of a construction career, our industry job. Because I mean, we rule. So we just get things done. My name is Kerwin Jones Wilson. I am the president for the National Association of Women in Construction for 2020-2021. And I am a general contractor from Ganson County.
