What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I am Kim Moore and I'm the Vice President for Workforce Innovation at Tallahassee Community College. My passion for helping people connect with that next step in their life is driven by honestly the investment of time that came from my English teacher in high school. She shared with me that Kim, you can dream as big as you want to be and I thought, wow that's so just empowering and she made sure that each day to push the needle which encourages me that just a conversation can help people move to that next step, that word of encouragement. And for me having been in workforce development and education, those are two powerful tools that do indeed do just that. There's nothing that matches the feeling of an individual when the lights go off and they say, wow I now get it, I see that there's a path for me. There is nothing that I would trade to not be a part of doing that for the individuals that we serve in our community. There was a Leadership Pace Setter Award that I received some time ago and what is powerful for me is that these are individuals in the community, other community leaders and the like that have taken the opportunity to look at the body of work at that time and to say wow great strides have been made. And for me being the little girl that grew up in Greenville and I say the me and Ray Charles story, it is powerful for me and I go back in my mind to the English teacher saying that you can do anything and it doesn't matter where you start. And that is why that award means so much. Kimberly Moore, Vice President for Workforce Innovation at Tallahassee Community College.
