What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's voices that inspire. Mickey Moore, I'm president and chief advancement officer with TMA Foundation. I had some goals. I wanted to be a business owner one day. I got into the finance industry and then I got in consulting after that and a nonprofit world that experience started in 2009. It was just a progression of building your experience and building your expertise. A lot of help along the way of course, but I certainly didn't know it'd be TMA Foundation in 2016. Growing up and where I come from, I never had a safety net. I always had to keep moving. I wanted to get as far away as I possibly could from what I lived growing up. I've been hungry, I've been homeless, raised by a single parent, did everything she could. Violence in the home, drugs, alcohol, I mean all those things. That's my motivation is that I eventually want to live a life so different than what I live growing up. The fear of failure is strong and I have failed several times, but it's that fuel using that failure in a positive way to continue moving forward. My mom is an inspiration to me. She looked at us as survivors and the things we had to go through. The power and strength in her inside to get through some of the things that we had to survive, that's inspiring. So much has been given to me whether it be clothing and food and hugs and a job or advice or whatever it is. I've gotten better over life over the many years to express some gratitude. And without people helping me along the way, I wouldn't be where I am today. Mickey Moore, President, Chief Advancement Officer for TMA Foundation. Mickey Moore - Using Failure in a Positive Way to Continue Moving Forward

Mickey Moore, President/Chief Advancement Officer of TMH Foundation, had it tough growing up. His goal in life was to get as far as he could from what he lived growing up. Although he fears failure and has had failures along the way, he has used them as lessons to continue to move forward. He is inspired by his mother and by all the people who have given to him along the way.
