What inspires you from WFSU public media? Here's this week's voices that inspire My name is Tariq Sally. I attend James S. Rikers High School and I'll be graduating May 2018 I'm involved in a lot of leadership positions within my school and different organizations student government association president. I'm in national honor society Jero TC What else do I do? I do others. I just pull out the resume I feel my life can inspire others because of my involvement within my school and as well as my community The challenges of my generation will be overcoming the challenges of other generations Because the things that other generations have put in place have worked for them But the world is always changing you know technology is evolving Recently, you know with the park lens shooting the students at that school becoming Activist and really standing up for themselves Advocating for more gun control and more laws the senior class president Karina Richardson We both set up a discussion that anybody was invited to there are students there that pretty much did not want more gun control And then the majority of students who did want gun control But it was just an open discussion about like what we could do and how we felt the most effective time to get something done after an Emotional situation like this is right after it especially when it comes to Mass shootings you see it to trend where all the focus is on it for that first week or two or even a month But after that all the attention drops the students were very intelligent to use their voices now while people are listening My name is Tariq Sally. I attend James is for good high school and I'll be graduating May 2018 Voices that inspire is sponsored by leadership Tallahassee a program of the Tallahassee Chamber celebrating 35 years of cultivating community leadership
