What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Andrea Friall. I'm an obstetrician gynecologist for North Florida Women's Care. And I am the current chief medical officer for telehastic memorial health care. I am the first woman that's held this position. And when the opportunity first came up for me, I did toy with it a lot. And my mind like, same questions. How am I gonna do this? Hi, I really love taking care of patients. My patients love me. I have so much more to grow in my career. But people would tap me on the shoulder or come by my office, other women, and say, thank you because you're doing this, I can see my path more clearly. I think for persons like myself and what the community saw, we just jumped in because we thrive off of that engagement. So when the pandemic was coming, you were looking at it, you're watching it across the globe, right? And then to have it come and then smack you in the face, here, to get through it, you get to work. It felt very good to be part of this organization in this community because not just the hospital, it was the community, it was all these leaders and everybody wanting to help. And good leaders know how to follow, right? So when you have this kind of situation, you know your skill set. And the nice thing is that even though you may be a leader, all of those titles are gone in this sort of situation. And you rely on people that have excellent skill sets. And so I think that that's what inspired me through this entire process is watching everyone become a leader and you rely on people and let people show you what they can do. I'm Dr. Andrea Proud, the Chief Medical Officer here at Telehacem Memorial Healthcare and an obstetrician gynecologist in Telehacem, Florida for North Florida women's care, serving the community for over 20 years. And you're listening to voices that inspire.
