What inspires you from WFSU Public Media here is this week's voices that inspire. My name is Annie FAM. I'm 17 and I'm currently a senior with Leon County Virtual School and I'm dual enrolling full-time at TCC. I decided to pursue dual enrollment full-time and I knew that I could do that with LCBS. Dual enrollment was free and I could directly take classes with the college. Dual school definitely takes a lot of self-discipline. It was really hard for me the first couple of years I did it because I had been going to public school previously my entire life. I don't really miss high school or necessarily the social aspect of it because I still get that from dual enrolling but I also still get to take the classes that I want to take and have the education that I want to get. I've definitely been exposed to a lot of cultures having a Vietnamese dad and a Venezuelan mom. It wasn't always easy since I grew up in a small town because I was always so different from everybody else but I'm so glad that I've had this exposure because I feel like it's made me such a more well-rounded person and I'm able to talk and communicate more effectively with so many other people knowing Spanish and I'm thankful for it. I think it's made me a richer person. Definitely my parents have instilled a sense of determination in me to work hard to be a better person, a better daughter and to be a better student also. I want people to know that not all young people are like the stereotypes you see in the media. Young people are very hardworking as one of Jo's witnesses. That's something that has instilled in me a sense of need and a sense of love to help other people. I dedicate about 70 hours a month to preaching and helping others improve their lives and so I think that's something that's very important and a big part of who I am. My name is Annie Fam and I'm a senior with Leon County Virtual School and I'm dual enrolling full-time at TCC. I would love to be a nurse when I graduate. For more information, visit wfsu.org.
