What inspires you from WFSU public media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Kristi Khenry. I am a ride or die neighborhood advocate, but my real job is as a professional real estate broker with Kingdom First Realty here in Tallahassee. I would love to see neighborhoods be on the front line of the branding for our area. People are looking for cities with soul. They want to move somewhere that is original, that's authentic, that has opportunities, that they may not be able to find other places, but also that have authentic people there who really, truly care about where they live. And I would love for us to promote that more and for us internally to build that, so that it is a framework that folks from the outside can look upon and see. My passion for community really stems from love of this community. I truly love this community. I love this community because it first loved me. I came here for college, went to Florida State University and became as a student a part of what's called the AmeriCorps Tallahassee team that was a literacy initiative at the Bond Elementary School back in the late 90s. What that community taught me in addition to leadership skills and opportunities to interact meaningfully with our local school system is that there were people, of course, that had needs, but a lot of those folks with needs were meeting the needs of others. And so I learned what love was in Tallahassee through seeing these folks sacrifice for others in their community. And that's what drives my passion, seeing and observing the love that these neighbors had for one another, even though they didn't have much means, but they gave what they could and they helped how they could and they loved tremendously. I am Christy Kennery and I am a writer-dine neighborhood advocate, but my day job is a broker for Kingdom First Realty, a local rules-state company in Tallahassee. You're listening to voices that inspire.
