What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Joe Kelly. I'm the president and CEO of Ghost Controls here in Tallahassee, Florida. When I started Ghost Controls, I came up with a trademark improving lifestyles through innovation. What consumers want is a sense of security. They want convenience and they want peace of mind when they're not at home. When I'm looking to hire members of a team, I'm not necessarily looking to hire the person that's set to curve in school. They have to have strong skill sets and experience, but I'll hire, desire, all day long, and heart. That's what creates a culture where your products can continue to evolve and improve. I remember a Peter Drucker quote, it really is indicative of, I think, what separates successful businesses from those that are not so successful. He said, businesses don't fail and products don't fail, but the managers that run them often do. His point is that products and services should evolve around what the customers' expectations are in the future. If you create a great product or service today and you want to ride that product forever, you will fail. The product doesn't fail, but the team fails. As a business, I hope that, as we grow and expand, we can continue to give back to the community because there's nothing more rewarding, I think, for all of us as business leaders, to see a successful company grow, to see jobs created, wealth comes back to our community, and you're able to do things in the community to help others. I don't think it gets better than that. I love WFSU. My wife and I both graduated from FSU, so it was fun to come back here. Joe Kelly, President and CEO of Ghost Controls. You're listening to voices that inspire.
