What inspires you from WFSU public media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Kate Kyle, and I am the local leader of mom's demand action here in Tallahassee, here to talk about where orange are gun violence awareness initiative the first weekend of June. So June is gun violence awareness month, and we wear the color orange. We have a nationwide campaign called where orange with a hashtag that is just that, where orange. And this is a time where we draw a lot of attention to survivors and just the costs of everyday gun violence in our country. Orange is the color that hunters wear in the woods to sort of draw attention, don't shoot me. We're doing a virtual challenge, and we're asking everyone to snap some picks of themselves wearing orange, doing something, anything in their home, in their neighborhood, to help another person to lift somebody up, maybe planning orange flowers or sidewalk chalk in your driveway. Talk about gun violence with your kids. Talk about the importance of safe storage with your adult friends. And when you take those pictures, you can share them on social media, on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag, tally wears orange. We're all wearing orange out in the community. We value human life. We want to keep people safe. We want to respect people's rights to own and have firearms, but we know that with rights come responsibilities. And we want to talk about that and we want to just keep our kids safe. I draw a lot of inspiration from my faith and from what I feel that I'm here to do. I think we all have a pretty limited time here on Earth to make the best of the situation that we're born into. And so my faith is really what moves me. I'm Kate Kyle. I'm the local leader of mom's demand action in telehassy. You're listening to voices that inspire.
