What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Kathy Bell. I work at Colony Bell Engineering with my husband, John. We are a small engineering firm that does predominantly litigation support, our clients are attorneys and insurance companies predominantly. We do a lot of failure analysis and helping people understand how to build their case. We both grew up in families and in small towns, but in families that really understood the importance of being connected to community. And I think more than connected actually engaged, actively engaged. If you're going to do it, do it all in. We talked a lot about getting engaged and our business doesn't necessarily lend itself to needing or wanting or having to do that. I said, but you know, nothing good happens in isolation. Being able to be out and about, see other perspectives and understand things are going on. I think just helps us all be better. We've been here since the mid-90s, so 20, some odd years, and I laugh among some of my friends that I sometimes still feel like an interloper in Dallas. You know, I don't mean that in bad ways. There's so many people in this town that have grown up here and their families are from here. It can be sometimes a little difficult to feel like you can break in and be part of the group. And so my recommendation is to think about what you're passionate about, figure out where that is in Tallahassee, begin to work on connecting, and just keep showing up. If you're interested in helping young people, if you're interested in helping children, if you're interested in helping college students, we've got so many things going on in town, and just begin to connect with those folks and show up and get engaged. Be active. I'm Kathy Bell, and I work at Colony Bell Engineering or in Tallahassee. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
