What inspires you from WFSU public media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Amber Tynan, and I am the Executive Director for United Partners for Human Services. What keeps me up is the children that attend the school with my daughter and coming to the playground was shoes that don't fit because they can't afford to buy anything different. Or the child that isn't sleeping at night, so they come to school and they're disruptive and it happens. Those things keep me up at night because it all typically stems back to very key issues, hunger and housing. And if we can help solve those very two things, while building a collaborative framework to support anything within the human services landscape, I think that we can solve a lot of our issues here in our community. I'm really inspired by the power of the collective. It's a hashtag that UPHS adopted probably a year and a half ago, alongside the power of nonprofits. And it's because of that collective that I stay increasingly inspired, but as well as motivated, because I see what can be done when we agree to lock arms and really address these issues in tandem as a partnership, leveraging resources, because we see that it allows us to do more. The issues are not waning in our community if anything they're growing. And we've got to find a way to not only build supports for our children, but for their families and our guardians, but also those that are supporting them and providing them supports every single day. So teachers, first responders, those individuals, to really understand that even if it's not something that you've personally ever experienced in your life, doesn't make it any less real for somebody in our community, and really bringing forward that narrative and that understanding of what this looks like and who it's addressing, because it truly is our neighbors. I'm Amber Tynan, and I am the Executive Director for United Partners for Human Services. You're listening to voices that inspire.
