What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I am Antony Car Ellis. I am a fourth year elementary education scholar from the lovely West Palm Beach, Florida. I serve as a Miss College of Education for my school this year as well as the Student Florida Education Association President. I usually get a lot of people that will tell me like, oh, you look like you do your homework all the time. You look like you're always on top of things and I haven't always been that way. Like when I first started school with me being first in my generation to go off to college, it was new to me. It was like, wow, I'm off on my own. Like I decided to get into things that I probably shouldn't have. Like not even like bad things, but just not making good decisions such as like partying and not going to class. And that really took a toll on me. I ended up having to sit out for an entire year. I had to learn the hard way that it wasn't something that would just be fixed easily. Like it took me almost a year and a half before I was able to get back and fix the mistake that I made on myself. And so it was a real hard life lesson. You can make a decision and it will affect your life in a tremendous way. So I think that's definitely something that I always want to tell people like, you know, if you're having a hard time or you know, you're going through a time where you aren't focused, you have to get focused because once you mess up, it's really hard to come back from that. And that's why I said that I would never think I would be in the roles that I have today. Like I thought at one point I was just going to be done and out. Like I thought I wasn't going to graduate. I wasn't going to go back to school and here I am now. Like I am the face of the school. So it's crazy to me. It's definitely a story to tell that I've definitely come a long way. I am Antonyn Ellis, a fourth year elementary education scholar at V Florida Agricultural Mechanical University. You're listening to voices that inspire.
