What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Archibu with the Second, and I am the Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration with Florida and University. It started with the desire. When I started my career in academia 10 years ago, I set out wanting to work at Florida and University. That opportunity to materialize, and so I took other opportunities in Miami and as well as Atlanta, but always keeping in the back of my mind to desire to work for FAMU. So when the opportunity arose about three months ago, and within a two week time ring I was offered the opportunity and two weeks later I was here. Being the first male in my family to ever graduate college, it was a big deal for me. I saw what it personally did for me, and if I backtrack, one of the things that I've always been fortunate with is a work ethic. I've always been a hard worker, and so my career actually flourished prior to completing my degree. I'll never forget I was the State Sales and Marketing Manager for Sprint. Am I boss? The State Director came in and said, Archie, you said you're a great guy. He said, but your career will stop right here if you don't finish your degree. And so I finished my degree, and the rest is history, and I got another degree, and I'm completing another degree. And so I just see the value and education. I know what it does, and the opportunities it can present for yourself through the venue of education. And so I always want to be a part of opening that door for someone else that may be just like me. I hope to make my children proud. Everything you do as a parent should set your children up for success. So once I had my first child, my life no longer became mine. It was about my children. So it's about Brandon, Cameron, Daniel, and Hannah. And if I can make them proud and inspire them, the greatness did not have done my job. I'm home, and I have no desire to leave home. And so for us, we're planning our roots again here and allowing our kids to finish growing up in flourish like we did. I'm Archie, do with a second, and I am the Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration with Florida and England University. You're listening to voices that inspire.
