What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's voices that inspire. My name is Barbara Westcott and I'm the founder of Swellcoin, which is initiating a shop tally program rate here in our community. My passion is to change the way people shop in our community and think about how they're going to shop. So many people are going to Amazon and buying there. But really, anytime you shop on Amazon, you're not shopping here. With Swellcoin, any community can just come to our platform and launch a shop local initiative. And so, of course, in Tallahassee, it would be shop tally. But then any businesses in the community can supercharge that initiative further by adding cash back. So in essence, it just makes it so it pays for you to shop local. Collaborative co-working spaces like Domey are incredible places of opportunity. You can connect to mentors and resources and just such a valuable place. It's wonderful in our community that we have so many resources for youth entrepreneurs. But one of the things I think would be really helpful is to have more focus and programming for the older entrepreneurs because they're out there and they're excited and they have great ideas, great experience and they have a lot to contribute to this ecosystem. One of the things that really inspires me is the amount of technology or things that are available to the everyday person. Years and years ago, if someone wanted to do something like what I'm doing, you would have had to have been like a multi-million dollar corporation to do something like this. The ability for an everyday person to build something really big and wonderful exists. So get going but get connected to people that can help you because they're there. My name is Barbara Westcott. I'm the founder of Swellcoin, which is a shop tally initiative. So get out there and shop your community and let's make tallyhassy great. Voices that inspire is sponsored by Leadership Tallyhassy, a program of the tallyhassy chamber celebrating 35 years of cultivating community leadership.
