What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Blake Dowling. I'm the CEO of Aegis Business Technologies here in Tallahassee, Florida. I started my career in the music business. And due to a crazy circumstance, Napster, coming on the scene, and about 2001, I began looking for other work. The music business led me to technology in a very roundabout way. And I started career in technology right around that time, 2002. It's been a blessed run 16 years. I've been working in IT at Aegis. I started as an account executive, actually. And six years ago, it took over as CEO. I think any business, any person wanting to start a business, you don't have to look too far in our community to see what happens if you don't play by the rules. But my advice, work hard, all the cliches are 100% on the money. The integrity driven, you got to believe in it. You got to feel it. You got to love it. There is no eight to five, nine to five. It's 24.7. I mean, it doesn't have to be. But you know, when I wake up in a Saturday morning, I'm still in work mode. You know, I'm like, OK, I got a photo-poptix column coming out today. I'm going to share it. I'm going to tag second harvest because I wrote about them. And I'm going to tag Goodwill because I wrote about them and that cool refugee from Afghanistan that's working in the warehouse that I just met. And I'm going to tell that story if you can find something. And I don't know how I've looked into finding something because I thought what I wanted to do was music business. And that'll make me happy. Well, it didn't. But to find a place that you love working in and people that you love working with and messaging and core values that you believe in, that's what it's all about. My name is Blake Dowling. I'm the CEO of Agis Business Technologies here in Tallahassee. I'm also a columnist for the Tallahassee Democrat for forapolitics.com. I wrote a book last year called Professionally Distance. I host the Biz and Tech Podcasts. Check it out. Thanks for your sport. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
