What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Deandre Walker. I'm a 2019 graduate of League on High School. I joined the Omega Lent Liders fall 2017. It impacted me by helping me be more confident. It made me more social because I was always very shy. It brought me a lot of opportunities in life. It just made me be more active with my family, friends, even school now. Once you're in, there's four workshops that you have to do. Leadership workshop, academic workshop, maturity workshop, and a perseverance workshop. My grades wasn't so good. So knowing that I have a support system, it helped me maintain my grades and even put most of my grades up. My mom, she left it. It made her very proud of the young man that I become. The step program that we have to like team, it's a part of the Omega Lent Liders and it helped me become more of a mature leader. We're a nationally ranked third in the nation and it's just a very outgoing program for us. Since I joined the Omega Lent Liders, I traveled a lot. I traveled all over the country. I am the step captain. It's kind of hard being like incotroze. This is like a step up from being just a regular member. So you have to be like very hard on them. You would have to make sure that they're doing everything right. You have to critique them all the time. You don't want to be too mean or too rude, but at the same time, that's what you need to be to help them be better. My mom is my biggest inspiration because she's why I ask me why just helping me be myself, be a better person in the world, have an impact on the world, see how big of a footprint I can leave on the world. My plans are to become a student of Tallahassee Community College and be a part of the TCCT FFU program. My name is DeAndre Walker and I'm a graduate of Leon High School. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
