What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name's Dexter Bell, and I'm a senior at Florida State University. I'm studying risk management insurance as well as management information systems. Ikea is one of those students that came in with some extra credit from dual enrollment in the International Acaloriate RID program. And so I've also added some other coursework. I've got an English minor and a business analytics minor as well. You would really motivate me to do some of the things that I do is recognizing that there's often two advantages to doing something like that. And the first one is that you're able to serve your community and help others. And I think that people don't forget those things. Selfishly, it's one of the most impactful things you can do to benefit yourself, ironically, I guess. But second, it just feels good too as well. So how I ended up working in the office of the president was because I just kind of kept showing backup. To a certain extent, I think you have to like to do the things that you're doing when you're serving and volunteering for different things like that. But recognizing the impact it has on others, as well as yourself, is what allows me to continually keep doing it for sure. The people around me are when inspired me to keep moving forward and know that things will be OK. History does as well. Eventually, things will mullo out, I think, even if it takes a little while. And so knowing that there are greater pastures in the future and having people remind you of that is one of the most critical things you can do in trying to say positive and know that the future will be all right. It's one of my favorite quotes ever. And it's by Dr. Oswald Avery. And he says, whenever you fall, pick something up. That's definitely something that keeps you knee motivated and grounded as well. I would say that I am a learner. I am authentic. And I am a problem solver. My name is Dexter Bell. I'm a student here at FSU. And I want to go ahead and wish everyone a lot of good luck and wishes in the future as we navigate through these tough times. But with that, as always, go knows. You're listening to voices that inspire.
