What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Elizabeth Emanuel, I'm CEO of Telehassy Downtown. Every day I get to be a professional enthusiast for downtown, I get to promote and help enhance the programs that we have existing there, the businesses highlight a lot of the assets, but then we also take into account listening to what the people within downtown in the district really want to see what they need to have improved and take that back to sitting leadership to say these are some of the priority areas for downtown. I'm really inspired by the people and the history. Coming from leadership, Telehassy, we learned a lot about community servants and realizing how many of those incredible people made a difference within downtown is a really great motivator. You look at the chain of parks and think Genevieve Randolph, a woman in the mid-1830s created five of those seven parks. You know, we've got George Proctor, who was a freed man that was one of the most prolific builders that has built beautiful homes within downtown. We've got modern day heroes like Ultimese Barnes that's continuing the legacy of history within our community and building up that kind of awareness for people's stories. We've got famous Wally Amos that came from Smokey Hollow and has written eight motivational books. I mean, he's an incredible inspirational man. So you look at the people that have come before me and what they've been able to accomplish. And it's a lot of motivation to keep wanting to tell their stories and build the kind of downtown in community that they would have valued. In five years, I envisioned downtown Telehassy as an inclusive, colorful place filled with public art and installations and events that bring in people from all avenues of our community into the heart of downtown. I'm Elizabeth Emanuel. I'm CEO of Telehassy Downtown. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
