What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Elastor Richardson. I am a local artist here in Tallahassee. I grew up, a native of Tallahassee grew up in North Neo-League Jackson area. I'm here to talk about my gift as an artist. In 1991, it's when my daughter was born, right? So naturally, I'm a jaw and captured those moments on campus. And I used to participate in springtime Tallahassee and all outdoor festival type things. And that's when I wanted to go public with my work. I displayed my daughter's portraits. Every other person was really admiring those portraits. I don't want to sell my daughter, but I just want you to view the quality of your work. Pretty soon, the pressure gave in, and so I'll go get out of here. I go here and sell, I can always do another one. And that's where I began to snowball and snowball until she's displayed in public arenas, private home collections from Los Angeles, New York, to Miami, and all in between. I believe that's the duty of an artist. That's why we've given these gifts. We supposed to capture the data lives, the things around us for future generations. Without a college degree, I feel that I'm headed to the top of the ladder. That's how I feel. You got to feel it before you get there. And tremendous about on work on the passion I really love. And I advise anybody with a passion, whatever it may be. If you don't have the opportunity to feed that passion now, make sure you feed it before your time is up because it makes a big difference. My name is Elasta Richardson and I'm a visual artist here in Tallahassee. You're listening to voices that inspire.
Eluster Richardson - An Artist’s Duty Is To Capture Daily Life For Future Generations

Eluster Richardson is an artist and a Tallahassee native. His artistic career was catapulted by an important life milestone, the birth of his daughter. Inspiration and admiration combined and splashed onto the canvas in the form of stunning portraits of his new muse. These paintings struck a chord and are now displayed from coast to coast.
