What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Elastor Richardson. I am a local artist here in Tallahassee. I grew up, a native of Tallahassee grew up in North Neo-League Jackson area. I'm here to talk about my gift as an artist. In 1991, it's when my daughter was born, right? So naturally, I'm a jaw and captured those moments on campus. And I used to participate in springtime Tallahassee and all outdoor festival type things. And that's when I wanted to go public with my work. I displayed my daughter's portraits. Every other person was really admiring those portraits. I don't want to sell my daughter, but I just want you to view the quality of your work. Pretty soon, the pressure gave in, and so I'll go get out of here. I go here and sell, I can always do another one. And that's where I began to snowball and snowball until she's displayed in public arenas, private home collections from Los Angeles, New York, to Miami, and all in between. I believe that's the duty of an artist. That's why we've given these gifts. We supposed to capture the data lives, the things around us for future generations. Without a college degree, I feel that I'm headed to the top of the ladder. That's how I feel. You got to feel it before you get there. And tremendous about on work on the passion I really love. And I advise anybody with a passion, whatever it may be. If you don't have the opportunity to feed that passion now, make sure you feed it before your time is up because it makes a big difference. My name is Elasta Richardson and I'm a visual artist here in Tallahassee. You're listening to voices that inspire.
