What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I miss Faith. I'm a marathon walker over 60 years old, and I've done several races all over the world. I started locally and I kept doing races in the same area, and there's some running groups on Facebook that I joined, and I saw they were doing races everywhere, and I was like, I wanna do that. And so now, 15 years later, I've done 33 half marathons in 23 states. I am in the 50 state club. I'm almost halfway there, and I've done eight full marathons, and I've done them in Athens, Greece, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Toronto, Canada. I never imagined myself even at 50 doing races, but now that I've been doing it, now I can't imagine not doing it. Losing my mom to heart disease, it put a fire under me. I was told three weeks after we lost her that I was going down the same road with the high blood pressure. I didn't have it, but they said I had some of the signs, and so I realized that being divorced, raising five children alone, I had to make some changes. And so I did, I did, but to be consistent for me, it had to be fun, and that's when the racing came in, and, you know, Hulu being a roller skating as long as I stay active, and it's fun, I keep doing it. My name again is Miss Faith, and you can follow me. If you want to walk with me, walking is the bomb.com. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
