What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Jim McShane and I am the Chief Executive Officer for Career Source Capital Region. And we are the workforce board that covers Getson, Wacolin, Lee Ann County, helping people find jobs and get good paying jobs. This work is very fulfilling because in the long run, you are helping people in their lives, you're helping their families. Whether it's a family member or a spouse, whatever, we are helping them find some way of being able to live a decent life, be able to have a house, be able to find something that they have a passion for and make that connection. And that's part of what we do is in our testing and our assessments, trying to figure out what's the best way to utilize their skills and where will those skills be in demand in our region. A lot of times when someone comes to us, they need more help than just what we can give them. It can be mental health, it can be housing help, it can be all different things. And so we're there in order to assist them and able to find all the resources they need to get themselves where they want to go. I've been a part of the Sisters of Mercy now for almost 30 years as an associate. And I've really gotten involved with them because of my faith, I've been raised Catholic. I've been active in the church, I've been active in a couple of different organizations in the church and really aspired to look at how do I take what I've learned in church and actually apply it every day. And that's what I see this job is, is that I'm applying what I've learned in my values that I've been raised in order to do a good job in this position. I am Jim McShane and I am the Chief Executive Officer for Career Source Capital Region. You're listening to voices that inspire.
Jim McShane - Applying Values In Order To Do A Good Job

CareerSource Capital Region CEO Jim McShane tells us that his work helping local people to find jobs is very fulfilling. His help goes beyond the job candidate, but infiltrates to benefit their families and communities. His volunteer work with the Catholic church is also very important to him and he believes his participation there helps to guide the work he performs as CEO.
