What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I am Kadecia Iliotsen and I am a junior at Florida State University. I'm a first-generation student, so I really didn't have an idea about college and I've always loved to talk. But my mom's like, you should be a lawyer because you like to argue, but then I decided that I didn't want to become a lawyer. But I was like, oh, they have a communications major, which means I can talk. So I was like, okay, I'll become a communications major. And then I got into that and I was like, well, that's pretty good. But maybe I should do like broadcasting because that's really what I want to do. So it was just a matter of what did I want to do within TV and television because I always knew I wanted to talk and I wanted to be on television. So it was just a matter of what did I want to do on television. I feel like we struggle with like having enough motivation in the will to do things. I want them to connect to my story, my ambition and my will to know that it's not where you start off in life because I was raised in a single parent home and we didn't have much. But I'm here today and I didn't let anything or anybody stop me from getting to where I want to be. My experiences in life have shaped me to be the person that I am. And I get a lot of my characteristics from my mom, like determination and very strong willed. She raised five kids on her own and I don't really know how you would do that. And she did the best that she could because I'm here. So she definitely inspires me because I don't know how some people do it. And I know some of my friends who have or just probably like one sibling in their worst predicaments denying. So I think my mom did a pretty good job and I'm proud of her. I am Kadeisha Ilyatsin, a junior at Florida State University. And about 10 years, she can catch me on the Kadeisha show. Voices that inspire is sponsored by Leadership Tallahassee, a program of the Tallahassee Chamber, celebrating 35 years of cultivating community leadership.
Kadasha Eliacin - Motivation, Determination, Will (It's Not Where You Start Off in Life)
Kadasha, a junior at Florida State University, grew up in a family who didn't have very much; her single monther raised five children on her own. She believes that it's not where you start out in life that determines your future or your success, but determination, and sheer will power. She feels that her generation struggles with having enough motivation, but in the end it can get you pretty far.
