What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Lane Green. I am a conservationist at heart and have worked in conservation most of my working days. I grew up outside of Tallahassee and I live on the Green Family Farm, which is right at the state line on 319. We as a people have been occupying this land since around the 1830s. My life's mission besides prescribed fire promotion is managing the family land being the best stewards we can be. And it's under conservation, these muck-a-tall timbers is the Florida stewardship forest. I worked at Tallah timbers for about 25 years. We were very instrumental in getting smokey's message change from only you can prevent forest fires and on July 6, 1996, headland in the Tallahassee Democrat and across the country, bowled above the fold. It seemed smokey was wrong. The subhead was, as it turns out, America's forest need fire to be healthy and free of wildfires. And that message is prescribed fire is a safe way to apply a natural process and ensure ecosystem health and reduce wildfire risk. What really inspires me is watching the young people who are so active for good causes today. And there are future and I'm met on them. Lane green and I'm a conservationist. You're listening to voices that inspire.
