What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Laura Johnson, and I'm the CEO and founding designer for Cotton Colors. I always had a love of creating things. I was an artist by nature from birth. Unfortunately, I had my parents and mom, especially who really saw the talent and the interest and drive I had and kind of put me in the place to be able to learn and craft my love of making things. I think the power of community is just tremendous. And I look back on the Tallahassee community and what they've given me the opportunity to do this. I don't know what it would have been like had I been in Miami or anywhere else in the world, maybe the same, maybe better, but I really don't think so. I think Tallahassee is just a community of givers and they just adore a story and love to support it. And I felt that since I moved here. What inspires me primarily is really my family. And getting together and sharing of ideas and also traveling. And unfortunately, we haven't been able to do so. This year, quite like we have in the past, but seeing new things and being out and meeting new people, seeing different cultures and just visually being inspired around the world. And so I've changed that a little bit. It's a little bit more close to home, obviously. A little bit more focused on people. The people that I'm able to see and talk to are crew or staff, they inspire me every day as well. But it's really focused on that these days. It's really the people that are in my life. You can have all the luck in the world, but without a lot of hard work, it just doesn't work out. And that's one of the biggest surprises that people ask me a lot is, did you ever think it was gonna, is this what you thought it was gonna be? And I thought it was gonna be a lot bigger and a lot easier. But the hard work doesn't go away. You have to do it every day. And I guess I'm just committed to that because I enjoy every minute of it. I don't really think it's work. I'm Laura Johnson, I'm the CEO and Founding Artist for Cotton Colors. You're listening to voices that inspire.
Laura Johnson - Without a Lot of Hard Work, It Doesn't Work Out

Laura Johnson is CEO and Founding Designer for Coton Colors. Since birth, she's had an interest and drive to craft and make things. Laura believes the power of community, especially Tallahassee, is tremendous. She is inspired by her family, her staff, as well as traveling... but has adjusted her travel to be a little bit closer to home these days. Hard work is a key element to success, but even though there is a lot that goes in, she admits that she enjoys every minute.
