What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Leah Moore. I am an early childhood educator and currently a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Florida A&M University. I think about my own experience and my father passed away when I was four years old and my mom was in her early 30s, two small children in a city where she had no family. One of the things that was unusual now looking back was that she sought help and one of my earliest memories is going to see a counselor. My passion for young children really comes from that time in my life, knowing that I had great experiences because of what my mom was advocating for and wanting other children to have that experience. Just wanting to give what I was able to receive when I was young. I was nominated for PBS Kids Early Learning Champion Program and I was chosen from stations all across the country. One of 11 to represent early childhood educators and what that program really is about is celebrating the early childhood educator, learning more about and sharing our expertise with each other and with PBS kids to help develop curriculum program to really help elevate early childhood education and its importance. Having the privilege to be able to be an educator and impact children, I don't know anything better than that and knowing that what you gave them could really change their outcome in a positive way. So that's really what keeps me going. My name is Leah Moore. I am an early childhood educator and a graduate student at Florida NM University. You are listening to voices that inspire.
