What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Linda Hall and I'm a visual artist. It was an eighth grade English class and I remember being really turned on by the romantic poets. And that's what led me into the world of creativity and I just sort of found my tribe through that writing and my journal and reading the poetry. I think I'm a storyteller. I have trouble reading because I have attention deficit disorder. So I have a strange relationship with reading. It's difficult. So I think what I do is I sort of tell stories with my art. You know, a lot of times the art comes from a very intuitive place and it's smarter than I am. It's hard to articulate it. So that could be sort of frustrating at openings when you're expected to be as grand as the work or as smart as the work. Here at the age of 61, I think the strongest tool I have is to just leave the room for inspiration to happen and just trust it when it comes to not analyze it too much. And you just have to have faith that it's universal that is not just my story that's being told. That's what I pay attention to in an art opening is to make sure that to hope that it's transmitting, you know, what I intended. I find that this community really feeds me as an artist mentally and spiritually. The landscape really feeds my work. The people I know really feeds my work. It is a gift to wake up in the morning and do what you're compelled to do. It is a real wonderful thing. My name is Linda Hall. I'm a visual artist here in Tallahassee. I'm very inspired by the natural world and the invisible things that motivate us. You're listening to voices that inspire.
