What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. Lucy Castro. I worked for the United States Postal Service. I was working in Greenville, Florida in Madison County. I had a restaurant there with my parents and one day I decided I needed to get a real job. And so I was standing in the kitchen looking out the back door and I thought, okay, I'm going to apply for the post office. And I did. Oh, I love my job. The people. I'm a people person. I love people. I just love taking care of them and helping them and helping them ship their products and their packages to wherever they need to go. You don't know what kind of day people are having and you don't know what their situation is or what they need. So I'm there to serve you and to help you. And that's what I like to do. And it makes my heart feel good. It comes from the heart. It's a personal relationship. If you feel comfortable with someone and they feel comfortable with you, they're happy to come there. And they don't mind waiting in line and they don't mind spending time with you. It makes it easier. You have to love your job. You have to love the people. My inspiration comes from a lady named Nadine Maxwell, which I call Granny. She made me more of what I am today. She helped me. And she passed away a few years ago and I owe it more to her. I was already there, but she helped me and taught me more to understand about God because I wanted to be just like her. And I wanted people to see it in me. And now people see it in me. And I feel proud of that. And it's because of her because she taught me. Six more years window clerk serving the people. I'm Lucy Castro and I work for the United States Postal Service and I want everyone to have a great day. You're listening to voices that inspire.
