What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Neil Rembana. I'm an immigration attorney in Tallahassee, Florida. I'm originally from Jamaica, and my mother came to the United States. I was about 11 years old, and after she was here for about a year, she was able to sponsor us to come up to the United States from Jamaica and become permanent residents. My mother's experience in witnessing how hard she worked as a legal secretary, and what that entails inspired me to become an attorney. And that really bridges into our conversation today of why it's important to be a family and to be a father to my two young daughters. I want my daughters to grow up to be courageous. I want them to be brave and to take risks, take chances, and to be the person who looks and interacts with other people and will do on to them what they will do on to themselves. I believe it is important that they participate in our community. I think they have an obligation to give back to our community. And that is because of my upbringing with my family. Being a father is the greatest thing that I can ever say. It has opened my eyes to what it means to be a compassionate, caring, and strong person. I'm always encouraged by our effort to help others and to see them succeeding. I think that has always been something to fuel and energize me in particular with where we're going in this community. My name is Neil Granbana, and I'm the father of Paloma, Rambana, and Belén, Rambana. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
