What inspires you from WFSU public media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. Quann Porter, a 2019 graduate of James R.R.C. High School. High School is like the turning point of like finding who you are and to be able to especially graduate early like I did, it was an accomplishment. I'm the regional president of the Megaland Blighters. A part of the position is that you had to have been the president in exhibit those leadership skills to be able to even be considered to be the regional president and being in it as long as I have, I was able to exhibit the leadership skills because my brother prior to me become the regional president, he was the regional president. The big thing that this program have done for me is I'm more outspoken than when I joined. When I joined I was quiet and closed minded, don't really talk. But now I'm a lot more sociable-ish and it taught me to, if you want something go out and get it, be ambitious, go for what your dreams are. Just kind of being a pillar in your community, like if you see one of your lamp lighter brothers down, pick them up, ask them what's wrong, just be there for people and don't be a follower. Lead by example. My grandfather was in the Air Force turning like the Vietnam time and just kind of talking to him and getting his stories really kind of motivated me to keep that legacy going. And also the Air Force out of all the other branches interests me the most and it was just the perfect time to do it since I was graduating early. Go after your dreams, don't give up, strive for what you want and just be yourself because at the end of the day you live in your life for yourself and not anybody else. Quann Porter, a 2019 graduate of James Las Vegas High School. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
