What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Roy Slavik and I'm a singer-songwriter. I started my professional career about 10 years ago. I think my parents just kind of raised me to be very purpose-driven. And it was just kind of one day I was just like, if God is real, then purpose has to be real. And so I was like praying and I was like, what should I do to rest my life? And then I heard music and then that's just been the plan A, the whole time. I just always felt like speaking to people through music, telling stories through music, bringing people together through music, doing something with music was the goal. It's definitely made me wrestle with life. I think it's definitely taken me places I've never been before, never thought I would go. I think it's made me like a much better like friend, son, father, writer, finding my voice and then playing everywhere and then finding out that people actually like it and people want to hear it. And so I've just learned so much. It's been quite a journey. It's kind of opened my eyes that success being this dollar amount or this award. It's kind of opened my eyes that that's not real. Like yeah, that's great. That's cool. I would love to have that award. I love to do that. But success is actually being purposeful and feeling fulfilled. I can live a life where my music is doing exactly what I believe it should be doing, bringing people together and spending so much time with my kids and my wife and eating good food and seeing the world. If I could just do that, I feel so happy. I feel so fulfilled. I feel really inspired to continue to keep going. My name is Royce Love It and I'm a singer, songwriter. You're listening to voices that inspire.
