What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I am Shaquille Shedrick and I am the founder of She Academy Inc. She Academy Inc was formed to support and empower teenage girls throughout their transition to young adulthood. Noticing the gap between happiness with myself as a teenage girl and the girls that I see around town now, it's screams for a dire need of help. We need more positive role models, we need more positive influences and we need way more community outreach, we need more self-awareness, we just need more help within the community. I have learned so much about myself while running this program. I'm learning that the advice that I'm putting out is something that I've genuinely taken within. We're definitely worth it. And you know, not all superheroes wear capes, some of us wear poloes, most of us wear smiles. And I'm really learning that the only person that's stopping you is you. And the moment you get out of your way, you can succeed in everything that you do. So I'm learning a lot about my strength. I'm learning a lot about my character and I'm truly turning into that woman that I was destined to be. To all the young ladies out there listening to this segment, I want you to always remember that you are worth the fight, you are worth it, you are worth every tear, you are worth every doubt, you are worth everything. I have this mantra, it goes, I am her, she is me and we are one. And that is she Academy to find in ourselves and be in one. I am Shaquel and Shadrick and I am the founder of Sha Academy. Thank you. You're listening to voices that inspire.
