What inspires you from WFSU public media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Susan Cerulean. I'm a naturalist. I'm a writer. I'm a grandmother. I'm a mother. And I care so much about this earth. I hope that people will fall in love with our place and with these creatures that share our whole, everything here with us. The air, the water, the air quality, the water quality, you know, what they eat, we're all in it together. And that's what I'm hoping for is a sense of interdependence among us. We are now at an interesting time. We have this novel coronavirus, right? But it's also a novel time for humans. Our species has never existed on this earth with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that's this high. We have to face that. We have to believe that's the crisis, that and the species extinction that goes along with it. But the thing is, we all need to be engaged, but we don't have to be fueled by fear or despair all the time. And that's the hard line to figure out. We can just imagine ourselves just burning with love, love for the apolachicola, for the birds, for the parent that's dying, for the baby that's being born. And I think if we're fueled by that kind of love, as opposed to hope or fear or despair, that we can find our way to being in line with the desire of everything to have its chance to live, and all the babies of all the species that are waiting for their chance. This is Susan Cerulean, and I am so glad that I live in Tallahassee, Florida. You're listening to voices that inspire.
