What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's voices that inspire. I'm Susan Fierrito. I am the Director of the Jim Rianne School of Entrepreneurship at Florida State University. I'm very honored to be the founding Director of the School of Entrepreneurship. I feel that I have to be a role model for others and I want to encourage others and help others, particularly women, to say you can do it all. Encouraging students to look outside their comfort zone, to look and see what they can do for their community. Let's see what problems need to be solved and figure out how to solve them, to think outside themselves, work with others. We encourage all of our students, they have to start a business when they start a program and if they fail they have to start again, but they have to work in teams. And a lot of students don't like working in teams. I don't want to work in groups because I'm the hardest worker and everybody else isn't slacker. Well, you have got to learn how to work with others and encourage those people to do more than. There's lots of life skills that we hope that students in our program will learn. Many people said you can't teach entrepreneurship, but entrepreneurship, I believe, is really a way of thinking. It's a way of having belief in yourself and your abilities and seeing a problem or an opportunity and figuring out a way to solve that problem. I'm Susan Fierrito, I'm the director of the Jimoran School at Florida State University. Voices that inspire is sponsored by Leadership Tallahassee, a program of the Tallahassee Chamber celebrating 35 years of cultivating community leadership.
Susan Fiorito - Entrepreneurship is a way of having belief in yourself and your abilities.

Susan is Director of the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship at Florida State University. She is happy to encourage students towards many goals, but ultimately wants to pass on to them that they "can do it all." She wants students to learn the life skills to lead them to a successful career as an entrepreneur.
