What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. I'm Tiffany Baker and I am the Director of the Florida Historic Capital Museum. I, when I was small, wanted to be president, and I was going to live in the White House. And I went along that path sort of. I was going to be a lawyer. I went to American University in Washington, DC and was going to be involved in politics. And almost immediately in the classes that I was taking, I realized that my affinity was for the the history part of it, the papers. I liked doing the research and finding out more information and thinking critically and just being curious. And that's really at the heart of history. I think the most special part of working at the Historic Capital is being able to connect the community and our visitors at large with a significant building where important things have happened. And it's not just that they're connecting to the building is that they feel connected to the process, that they can be engaged in civic matters, that they understand how it all works, and to be able to work in a place that provides that platform is incredibly important and an honor every single day. So it's more than just a pretty building, it's more than just history. It is the steps on which history has happened and continues to happen and will happen in the future. I'm excited when we have a lot of visitors when you can see two small children be inspired by the space because you know that maybe in 20 years they're going to engage in the process in some way and hopefully it's connected to that moment where they felt excited and like it's a possibility. Tiffany Baker and I am the director of the Florida Historic Capital Museum. You're listening to Voices That Inspire.
