What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Tonsa Ward and I'm a recent telehazzy transplant, but I feel right at home thanks to my husband of 24 years Charlie Ward. We have three beautiful children, Caleb, who is a sophomore at Florida State University, Hope, who's a junior at Florida High, and Joshua, who's a fifth grader at Chairs Elementary. I'm a New York licensed attorney and I started my career in civil litigation, but for the past 20 years, I've been working with Christian radio stations, nonprofits and social enterprises to help them with strategic planning, community engagement, and now as a story-brand marketing guide. One thing that's helped me to stay inspired through these challenging weeks is our middle child's name is Hope. And we actually have put on her wall in her room what her name means, which is a positive expectation that something good is gonna happen in my life today. And that's the definition that we have subscribed to with her name. And so because we get to see her and speak that and see that on a daily basis, that's really what we're trying to adopt is to keep Hope and to never let go of Hope, no matter what's going on. And circumstances can't really dictate the hope that we have. And only how I respond is what can dictate how I feel and my outlook. If I know ultimately that there's always gonna be something good that comes out of the day, there's always gonna be a better plan, even if I don't see it immediately. Everything that is happening is something I can learn from, that I can grow from, that can make something better in the end. And I know that as long as I have Hope that it's gonna be okay. My name is Tonsu Ward, and as a strategic marketing consultant, I can now add distance learning teacher as well. You're listening to voices that inspire.
Tonja Ward - Never Let Go of Hope

Tonja and her husband Charlie have three children. It's their children that have helped them to remain inspired during the current pandemic period. Their middle child's name is Hope, and it is the meaning of this name that has guided their mindset for the past few months. They have remained positive, never letting go of hope, no matter the circumstance. Tonja emphasizes that she can only dictate how she responds, and believes she can learn and grow from this experience.
