What inspires you from WFSU Public Media? Here's this week's Voices That Inspire. My name is Tony Brown. I'm the General Manager for Alaskot-Lenin Uniformed Rental Services here in Tallahassee. Kids are our future. Without supporting the kids, you don't have any idea what your future is going to be. And the parents, their minds are already set. Their personalities are already set. They've made their lot in life, but we can influence the kids. And if we can influence the kids and get to them early, I think that we'll see a huge difference in our future. We started getting involved about five years ago. Andrew Gilliam, the prior mayor, he has a Christmas drive every year. And Darrell Jones reached out to us to see if we could get involved financially to aid in some of these communities that are not as successful and fortunate as some of us are. And we donated dollars each Christmas sense. And you see these moms and you see these kids. As soon as they see that room full of gifts, that kind of gets in your blood and you want to get more involved. Then we got involved in the school system. And as soon as I met Carmen Conner and Jasmine Smith at the two schools Oak Ridge and Pine View, conversation was over at that point because their passion is amazing. To take two schools from one of their both Tadalon schools and two to be operated schools and to change that and to be a part of changing that and to see the passion that those two ladies have and making sure that these kids succeed, your kids can be your future leaders or they can be your future problem. Well, I'd much rather prefer to be a part of the first one. I just think that more companies need to get involved. They need to reach out to the, especially the charitable organizations in Leon County. They're not funded by themselves. And there's not a lot of tax dollars to go around to aid these people and they need private funding. My name is Tony Brown. I'm the general manager for Alasko Lin and Uniform Mental Services here in Tallahassee. You're listening to voices that inspire.
Tony Brown - Your Kids Can Be Your Future Leaders
Alsco General Manager Tony Brown's focus is on kids. His company makes contributions to families in need during the holidays and throughout the year with Leon County Schools. He'd prefer to be a part of the process that contributes to kids becoming our future leaders. He encourages more private companies to get involved by making charitable donations to organizations that support our community's children.
